Bodhidharma was a Buddhist monk who lived during the 5th/6th century and is traditionally credited as the leading patriarch and transmitter of Zen (Chinese: Chán, Sanskrit: Dhyāna) to China. According to Chinese legend, he also began the physical training of the Shaolin monks that led to the creation of Shaolinquan. However, martial arts historians have shown this legend stems from a 17th century qigong manual known as the Yijin Jing.
Little contemporary biographical information on Bodhidharma is extant, and subsequent accounts became layered with legend, but many accounts state that he was from a Brahmin family in southern India and possibly of royal lineage.Scholars have concluded his place of birth to be Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu, India.
After becoming a Buddhist monk, Bodhidharma traveled to China. The accounts differ on the date of his arrival, with one early account claiming that he arrived during the Liú Sòng Dynasty (420–479) and later accounts dating his arrival to the Liáng Dynasty (502–557). Bodhidharma was primarily active in the lands of the Northern Wèi Dynasty (386–534). Modern scholarship dates him to about the early 5th century.
Throughout Buddhist art, Bodhidharma is depicted as a rather ill-tempered, profusely bearded and wide-eyed barbarian. He is described as "The Blue-Eyed Barbarian" in Chinese texts.
The Anthology of the Patriarchal Hall (952) identifies Bodhidharma as the 28th Patriarch of Buddhism in an uninterrupted line that extends all the way back to the Buddha himself. D.T. like another film will be joining Vikram's 'Rajapattai' this Christmas
holidays. Kollywood grapevine is abuzz that the makers of 'Vettai'
featuring an array of stars including Madhavan, Arya, Sameera Reddy and
Amala Paul, are toying with the idea of releasing it this December
itself than Pongal 2012 as it was initially planned.
Some sources also express that since Vijay's biggie with Shankar, 'Nanban' is seeing light of the day on Pongal 2012, the makers find Christmas holidays as a more bankable option. RAJINIKANTH VISITS THIRUMALA:
Tamil superstar Rajinikanth, who is on a thanks
giving visit
after recovering from ailment recently, offered prayers at the famous
hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala on Thursday.
Rajinikanth, an ardent devotee of Lord Venkateswara, was
accompanied by his wife Latha, daughters Aishwarya and Soundarya
and sons-in-law Danush and Aswin besides Telugu film star
Mohanbabu, temple sources said.
They spent about 30 minutes inside the temple, the sources told PTI.
Family sources said the 61-year-old actor undertook the visit to pay
his thanks to the Lord for his speedy recovery from the ailments he
suffered in May. Rajinikanth had last visited the shrine after the
wedding of his daughter Soundarya with Ashwin on September 9 last year.
And the happiest news for all super star fans,the RANA film is
going to shoot with in 2 months..

MAAREESAN:
Dhanush
will be romancing Genelia D’Souza and Hansika Motwani
in Chimbu Devan’s
Maareesan. The makers of the film have
reportedly finalised them to
play the female lead roles in the
forthcoming Tamil movie.
Though,
the movie bosses have not announced the news, it is
almost confirmed
that Genelia and Hansika Motwani will be
playing the leading ladies in
Maareesan. Dhanush had earlier paired
up with the Boys actress in Uthama
Puthiran and Engeyum
Eppodhum gal in Mappillai.
It
is also interesting to note that Genelia and Hansika Motwani have
worked together in forthcoming movie Velayudham. Though, there

thriller and some stills released earlier show Karthi dressed up as a politician.
